Evotec seeks a Research Associate to drive early drug discovery projects, execute work plans, and contribute to process improvements. You’ll work across modalities to deliver high-quality protein therapeutics on schedule.

You should have a Master’s or Bachelor’s in a life science with 3+ years of industry experience, plus knowledge in Protein Biochemistry, Structural Biology, or Biophysics, and hands-on lab skills with expression and purification workflows.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's in a relevant scientific discipline with at least 3 years industry experience.
• Technical knowledge of Protein Biochemistry, Structural Biology or Biophysics.
• Ability to design and execute work plans independently, with sound decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Execute approved work plans in early drug discovery projects.
• Contribute to optimization and continuous improvement of work plans.
• Support multiple concurrent projects across modalities and therapeutic areas.
• Deliver timely, accurate results meeting defined quality standards.
• Perform preliminary data analysis for internal review prior to release.
• Design, execute, and optimize protein expression workflows in host systems (E. coli, insect and mammalian).
• Design, execute, and optimize protein purification workflows using chromatographic techniques.
• Operate and maintain ÄKTA chromatography systems and troubleshoot purification processes.
• Adhere to SOPs, risk assessments, and good laboratory practices.

It’s a role where your curiosity will fuel both your personal growth and the success of the team.What You’ll Do:Execute approved work plans in early drug discovery projects.Contribute to the optimization and continuous improvement of work plans by providing recommendations for review and approval Senior Scientists (Grade 5 or above)Support multiple concurrent projects across modalities and therapeutic areas, ensuring efficiency and prioritization of deliverablesDeliver timely, accurate results that meet defined quality standards and project specifications.Perform preliminary data analysis for internal review prior to release to internal stakeholders or external customers.Design, execute, and optimize protein expression workflows in one or more host systems, including E. coli, insect cell platforms (baculovirus and Drosophila S2), and mammalian expression systems, to produce high-quality recombinant proteins that meet project objectives and timelines.Design, execute, and optimize protein purification workflows using chromatographic techniques and analytical methods. Operate and maintain ÄKTA chromatography systems, troubleshoot purification processes, and collaborate with upstream and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality protein preparations for internal and external customers.Adhere strictly to all laboratory safety policies, including compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), risk assessments, and good laboratory practices to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.Who You Are:Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline with at least 3 years plus experience in industry.Technical knowledge of Protein Biochemistry, Structural Biology or Biophysics with a proven ability to deliver results across target families within agreed timelines and budget, meeting agreed quality criteria.Understanding of scientific and technical background of experiments.Experience of precise execution of workplans.Expected to have some independence, making day-to-day technical decisions, follow training provided on the correct use and maintenance of lab equipment.Why Join Us:Growth Opportunities: We’re a company that believes in continuous learning and development. This is a salaried exempt role. Base salary offered may vary depending on the individual’s skills, experience and competitive market value.
