Job Title: Research Associate - Assay Development (CDx Pharma Services)

Location: Tucson, AZ

Employment Type: W2 Contract - 6 Months with Possibility for Extensions

Pay Rate: $24.00-$27.00/hour - Determined based on experience (Paid Weekly)

Role Overview

BEPC is seeking an Research Associate - Assay Development (CDx Pharma Services) to support our customer’s Companion Diagnostics (CDx) Pharma Services team in Tucson, AZ.

This laboratory-based position will support an independent team focused on early-phase assay development before assays are transferred to CAP/CLIA-certified laboratories for use in clinical trials. The role combines hands-on laboratory experimentation, scientific documentation, manufacturing procedures, and basic computational data processing.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field and 1-2 years of laboratory or industry experience, along with strong communication skills and an interest in assay development and computational biology.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research, development, and manufacturing laboratory experiments supporting assay development projects.
• Assist with the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies.
• Support early-phase assay development activities prior to transfer to CAP/CLIA-certified laboratories.
• Prepare technical reports, experimental summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses.
• Present and discuss experimental results with department members and project teams.
• Maintain complete and accurate laboratory documentation and electronic files.
• Follow applicable GMP, GLP, Design Control, and other established regulatory and quality procedures.
• Review relevant scientific literature and maintain current knowledge within areas of responsibility.
• Conduct assigned experiments independently as appropriate.
• Support manufacturing procedures and other scientific activities as required.
• Assist team members with basic computational biology activities.
• Execute established scripts and perform basic code reading to support computational data processing and team workload.
• Collaborate effectively with scientific, technical, and project team members.
• Communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• 1-2 years of relevant laboratory or industry experience.
• Hands-on experience working in a laboratory environment.
• Ability to execute experiments and accurately document experimental activities and results.
• Ability to prepare scientific reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data and documentation accuracy.
• Ability to follow established laboratory, quality, and regulatory procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a scientific team.
• Customer-facing experience, such as retail, restaurant, hospitality, or another service environment, demonstrating the ability to manage interactions and challenging situations professionally.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic computational biology skills.
• Familiarity with reading code and executing scripts.
• Experience supporting assay development or related laboratory research.
• Familiarity with GMP, GLP, Design Control, or regulated laboratory environments.
• Interest in companion diagnostics, clinical assay development, or personalized healthcare.

Interview Process

The interview process is expected to include an initial 15-minute video screening, followed by an onsite panel interview.
