The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is seeking Research Associates for Spring or Summer 2027 start dates. You will work with our economist staff, visiting fellows and scholars on impactful research projects.

Responsibilities include statistical and econometric analysis, data collection, and preparing articles and presentations for policy and academic audiences. Prior research experience and a strong math/statistics background are essential.

Qualifications

• GPA 3.5 or higher required.
• Bachelor's degree in economics, econometrics, or quantitative economics.
• Strong mathematics and statistics background (Calculus II, Econometrics, Linear Algebra, Differential equations).
• Previous economic research experience preferred (RA, internship, or independent project).

What are the day-to-day activities?

• Perform statistical, econometric, computational and analytical research that economists can use for publication in academic journals.
• Utilize Excel and statistical packages such as Stata, R, Matlab, Julia, Python, and SAS.

• Attend to additional assignments, including gathering and organizing survey data and anecdotal information and summarizing economic data for the Beige Book.

Qualifications

• A GPA of 3.5 or above
• Bachelor's degree in economics, econometrics, or quantitative economics
• Strong background in mathematics and statistics, including coursework in Calculus II, Econometrics, Linear Algebra, and Differential equations
• Previous economic research experience, such as undergraduate research assistant, research-related internship or independent research project.

Salary: $62,800 - $78,500 annual
