Job summary

Jefferson Health Plans seeks a Research Associate to join a biomedical research team in Philadelphia. You will perform experiments, record and analyze results, and collaborate with colleagues to study molecular mechanisms mediating diseases.

You will contribute to experimental design, data interpretation, and ongoing project development while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with other team members.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or M.D. required.
• Minimum of 5 years bench research.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Maintains a lab database of technical and animal protocols, plasmids, antibodies and other key resources.
• Troubleshoots experimental design malfunctions and implements solutions, interfaces directly with equipment manufacturers for adjustments and repairs.
• Instructs research personnel on specialized techniques and complex protocols; coordinates and participates in intra-collegial presentations and meetings. Trains and mentors research personnel.
• Analyzes results of experiments independently.
• Develops scientific hypotheses related to ongoing work in the laboratory. Designs experiments to test hypotheses.

Job Duties

• Troubleshoots experimental design malfunctions and implements solutions, interfaces directly with equipment manufacturers for adjustments and repairs.

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
