Job summary

The University of Utah's Health & Kinesiology Department is seeking a motivated Research Assistant to support studies involving collegiate student-athletes. The role includes recruitment, participant communication, data collection and management under the direction of the principal investigator and research team.

This position is well suited to undergraduates or early-career trainees in health sciences, with strong communication skills and an interest in ethical, participant‑centered research

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in, or completion of, an undergraduate degree program in health sciences, exercise science, or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated organization, attention to detail, reliability, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow research protocols.

Responsibilities

• Assist with recruitment and retention of student‑athlete research participants using IRB‑approved procedures.
• Support participant communication, scheduling, and study visits or assessments, as applicable.
• Assist with data entry, data cleaning, organization of study materials, and maintenance of secure research records.
• Help prepare study materials, recruitment materials, presentations, and reports.
• Participate in research team meetings and complete required research, privacy, and human‑subjects training.
• Perform other research‑related duties as assigned.
