Job summary

The University of Houston invites applications for a non-tenure-track Research Assistant Professor position in Biology and Biochemistry to support an NIH-funded program focused on next-generation oncolytic herpes simplex virus therapies for cancer.

You will lead independent research, supervise trainees, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance virotherapy and immunotherapy approaches for solid tumors.

Qualifications

• PhD in Virology or closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience in developing or engineering herpes simplex virus or other viral vectors.
• Strong expertise in molecular cloning, genetic engineering, cell culture, and virological techniques.
• Experience with cancer biology and preclinical evaluation of cancer therapeutics.
• A record of peer-reviewed publications in relevant areas.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct independent research in oncolytic HSV therapies.
• Supervise trainees and laboratory personnel.
• Assist with grant and manuscript preparation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary investigators inside and outside the University.
