Job summary

University of Houston's Department of Behavioral & Social Sciences invites applications for a Research Assistant Professor in Behavioral Science and Social Work Research. This 1.0 FTE, non-tenure track position focuses on externally funded projects and clinical services in UH Family Care Center and other clinical sites in Houston.

The candidate should have a doctoral degree, Texas licensure eligibility, strong grant-writing skills, and a track record of teaching, leadership, and collaboration

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in clinical social work or related discipline (psychology).
• Licensed or license eligible to practice in Texas; eligible to supervise trainees.
• Knowledge of NIH and other federal funding sources and skilled at writing fundable grant applications.
• Knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning, including active and applied learning modalities.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to inform decision-making.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead externally funded research within faculty member's area of expertise, aligned with UH COM priority areas.
• Secure external funding to support the research program and salary.
• Mentor and support medical student research projects.
• Provide clinical services within UH Family Care Center or other UH-affiliated sites.
