Job summary

MERIEUX NUTRISCIENCES in Addison, IL is seeking a Research Assistant/Phlebotomist to support our clinical research team. You will perform vitals, ECGs, data entry and assist with specimen collection, recruitment calls, and day-to-day lab and administrative tasks.

The role requires 1–2 years phlebotomy experience, a Medical Technician or CNA background, and a BA/BS or equivalent. You will work in a busy lab/office environment with strict adherence to Good Clinical Practices.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Medical Technician, CNA or Patient Care Tech background.

Responsibilities

  • Work with study coordinators and physicians to ensure participant safety and enrollment in clinical trials.
  • Provide administrative and clinical support, including front desk check in and next day chart preparation.
  • Perform vital signs, height and weight measurements, ECGs and assisting with participant visits, as needed.
  • Perform recruitment calls and determine study eligibility.
  • Attend study kickoff meetings and maintain knowledge of protocols.
  • Provide clinic and lab support for day-to-day functions.
  • Enter and manage study data.
  • Collect routine blood and urine specimens; process and ship samples.
  • Adhere to CDC recommendations and OSHA requirements.

Purpose Of The Job

We are looking for a Research Assistant/Phlebotomist in 800 S Rohlwing rd, Addison, IL 60101 USA. Your mission will be to:

Are you a detail oriented, conscientious worker interested in both nutrition and pharmaceutical clinical research? We are looking for a research assistant / Phlebotomist to join our clinical research team. You will assist with the conduct of study trials by performing recruitment screening phone calls, preparing all necessary materials for day to day functions, performing vitals/ECGs/DEXA scans/heights/weights, entering subject data, and supporting our laboratory. We are a dynamic, busy, research team! We will consider an experienced Lab Technician that thrives in a team environment while being responsible for successful collection and processing of subject’s samples during clinical projects.

Main Activities
  • Work with study coordinators and physicians to ensure participant safety and enrollment in clinical trials
  • Provide administrative and clinical support, including front desk check in and next day chart preparation
  • Perform vital signs, height and weight measurements, ECGs and assisting with participant visits, as needed
  • Perform recruitment calls and interact with interested participants to determine study eligibility
  • Attend and interact in study kickoff meetings
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge and understanding of assigned protocols
  • Provide necessary clinic and lab support for day to day functions
  • Complete study related documents including data entry
  • Contribute to our professional and company image
  • Adhere to Good Clinical Practices
Able To Support The Laboratory, Specifically
  • Collect routine blood and urine specimens
  • Collect and process stool, urine, saliva, skin swabs, and other samples as needed.
  • Collect timed specimens, utilizing intravenous catheters at times
  • Process and ship patient samples to various reference laboratories
  • Order and process incoming supplies
  • Adhere to CDC recommendations and OSHA requirements
Communication

Internal: All Addison Clinic, Sensory, and Contract Research Organization staff.

External: Works directly with the public and stakeholders.

YOUR PROFILE
Knowledge

Profile (required education and professional experience):

  • 1-2 years phlebotomy experience
  • Medical Technician or Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Tech
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience

  • Build and maintain productive collaborative relationships within the team and across the supported laboratories.
  • Responsible for proper execution of the welcoming and on boarding process in a consistent, professional, and timely manner for select accounts. Responsible for setting up programs and testing information in the laboratory information management system (LIMS) / CRM / ECN /myMXNS and any other system set ups critical to customer management.
  • Desire a highly creative, energetic, customer-service oriented individual to engage and attract study participants.
Work Environment

The position works in an administrative office or laboratory environment. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials may occur and protective laboratory coat and safety glasses must be worn when visiting laboratory facilities. Physical dexterity is necessary to effectively manipulate a keyboard. May be required to lift up to 30 pounds. Incumbent can expect extended time standing.

Schedule

Monday - Friday 7AM -330PM

Compensation Range

$22 -$24/hr
