Qualifications

• High School Diploma with 1+ year relevant work experience required.
• Associate’s Degree with 1+ year related work experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of computer operation and data entry into LIMS helpful.
• Knowledge of food science, chemistry, or microbiology is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical testing procedures per client requests and specifications.
• Communicate testing concerns to Supervisor or Technical Support and liaise with care teams.
• Provide results within the time frame set by leadership and customer requirements.
• Read, record, and verify analysis data to produce accurate reports for clients.
• Receive and log samples in the system and prepare documentation.
• Contact customers to clarify missing information and ensure sample content accuracy.
• Store samples properly and dispose of excess samples.
• Prepare samples for shipment to other labs when needed.
• Assist with development of customized client reports and data entry into databases.
• Support QA and continuous improvement processes across retail testing.
• Identify departures from the quality system and document observations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

We Are Looking For a Part Time Food Analysis Technician (Physical Technician) In 2057 Builders Place, Columbus, OH 43204 USA. Your Mission Will Be To

This is an entry level position that requires a high level of attention to detail to accumulate large data sets with a high degree of accuracy. All training required for the position will be provided on the job. Grocery store, restaurant (in either front of house or back of house), and other food retail experience is a HUGE plus. As a Technician in the lab, you'll get to go behind the scenes to see, firsthand, how much effort and attention is given to food quality by major food producers.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Perform physical testing procedures, identifying the specified physical characteristics of a sample, according to client requests and specifications. This includes: Ongoing review of existing client-specific evaluation and related methods in order to suggest modifications and improvements. Ensure that all methodology is implemented and tested so that all analysis activities are in compliance with quality, safety, and other applicable standards and procedures.
• Communicate with Supervisor or Technical Support personnel any concerns with testing procedures in order to provide information to clients as necessary. Liaison with local and regional customer care as required, including TAT updates.
• Provide results and additional information according to the time frame established by Department Leadership and Customer Requirements and inform Leadership of any late or out of spec results as soon as possible. Perform testing, record data in LIMS, review accuracy of data in order to produce reports to clients.
• Read, calculate and record analysis data to produce LIMS-generated reports for customers. Correct any discrepancies that may occur. Occasional calculations performed outside of LIMS need to be documented and maintained per Good Laboratory Practices.
• Receive and log in samples prior to analysis. Review sample and any attached to documentation to assign an identification number and enter information into Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Prepare documentation as necessary.
• Contact customers, customer care and off-site leadership when necessary, to obtain and clarify missing or unclear information to ensure that identification of client code, test code, and sample contents are accurate.
• Store samples in appropriate manner until analysis is completed and appropriately dispose of extra samples. Ensure sample integrity is maintained upon arrival at the laboratory.
• Prepare samples to be shipped to other labs when necessary, follow appropriate procedures and maintain all related documentation.
• May assist Department Personnel with the development of customized client reports or data entry into a customer database. Activities include: collection of data, analysis of data and transfer of data.
• Support corporate quality and continuous improvement process. Support QA retail testing in terms of specification review/development and testing protocols.
• This position has the responsibilities and authority to identify departures from the quality system or test procedures and document such observations in accordance with the prescribed complaint system.
• Other related duties as assigned.
• At any time, the incumbent must behave and operate in an ethical and Code of Conduct compliant manner.

Communication

• The incumbent has occasional contact with the personnel outside the immediate working unit and organization.

• A broad knowledge of personal computer software and data entry skills is necessary to input data into the LIMS and generate special reports

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• The incumbent typically works in a laboratory setting with proper lighting and temperature control.Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials will occur when in the laboratory.Safety equipment of gloves, laboratory coat, eyeglasses or other protective gear, may need to be worn depending on the testing

Schedule: Part-time, 18–29 hours per week. Employees will typically work approximately 3 days per week between the days of Monday through Friday, with shifts generally scheduled from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM. Specific workdays may vary based on business needs.
