Job summary

Join the Single Cell Genomics Facility at Cincinnati Children’s to support microbial metagenomics projects through hands-on wet-lab work and data analysis. You will contribute to DNA and RNA extraction, sample processing, and delivery of genomic services across the institution.

The role may be filled as Research Assistant III or IV, with opportunities to mentor staff, develop new assays, and collaborate with investigators on health and disease research.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field OR Master's degree required for RAIII/RAIV roles.
• RAIV requires 3 years of related experience OR a Master's degree with 2 years of experience.
• Hands-on experience with DNA/RNA extraction and data analysis is expected as part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Leadership - may mentor junior staff and guide complex issues; assist in hiring decisions and performance feedback.
• Lab Administration - troubleshoot equipment, maintain MSDS training, ensure protocol accuracy, manage lab inventory and daily operations.
• Develop, set-up, and verify new procedures; evaluate techniques; modify procedures based on research design changes.
• Design and perform experiments and record data; reproduce and improve techniques; analyze and interpret results; maintain records.
• Serve as a Resource - communicate with team, share knowledge, stay current on key systems, and contribute to meetings and publications.
