University of the Virgin Islands seeks a Research Assistant to support animal science research. You will collect data and samples on the farm, process samples in the lab, and maintain organized records and inventories.
Responsibilities include data entry, basic graphing, assisting with feeding protocols, and helping with workshops or tours related to the Animal Science Program. This position requires physical activity outdoors and occasional lifting.
The research assistant should have experience collecting samples on the farm and processing them in the laboratory, according to the research. The analyses can include fecal egg count, packed cell volume, ELISA , glucose tolerance test, DNA test, and others.
Bachelor of Science Degree
While performing the job duties, the employee will be required to work outdoors in hot weather. This position requires the employee to be able to lift 30 lbs (feed sack). Work environment: The noise level in the work environment will be moderate. The work environment is a mix of outdoors and indoors.
