Position Summary
The Chen Lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is seeking a short-term, non-student hourly employee for the upcoming summer. The lab specializes in characterizing hit compounds identified through high-throughput screening (HTS) campaigns, as well as studying HIV-1 resistance-associated mutations (RAMs), utilizing a recently developed HIV-1 infectivity assay.
Applicants with prior experience in the relevant experimental techniques are strongly preferred. The primary responsibilities of the position will include SDS-PAGE and Western blot analysis, as well as high-throughput microscopic image acquisition, stitching, and quantification.
Position Minimum Qualifications
- Biological and Biochemical experience.
- Experience with SDS-PAGE and Western Blot analysis.
- Experience with high-throughput microscopic image acquisition, stitching, and quantification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to interact and communicate professionally and effectively with a diverse group of people including faculty, staff, postdocs, students, administration, and the public with tact, discretion, and appropriate judgment.
- Ability to organize time and work effectively to keep lab operations running smoothly, recognizing that this is a difficult skill to learn and will likely involve troubleshooting and feedback.
- Ability to keep accurate lab notebooks.
- Good organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Punctuality, dependability, and consistency.
- Willingness to learn and grow, admit mistakes, and ask for help when you need it.
