Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking an Animal Research Technician I to assist in cleaning and maintaining animal quarters and to provide routine care for research animals in a regulated environment.

The role requires a High School diploma, two years of experience in an animal research facility, and ALAT certification or equivalent substitutions. Fluency in English and the ability to obtain ALAT within a year are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• ALAT certification required; substitution options available.
• Fluency in English required; ability to communicate with staff.
• Must achieve ALAT certification within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains animal quarters, rotates cages, and ensures sanitation.
• Provides routine care for research animals, feeds and waters, monitors health.
• Monitors environmental conditions (temperature, ventilation, lighting) and reports issues.
• Maintains accurate logs and records of room activities and inventories.
• Oversees supply levels, restocks areas, and coordinates with supervisor on shortages.
• Assists with relocation of equipment and supplies within the facility.
• Supports regulatory compliance related to laboratory animal care and documentation.
• May operate a supply van or other vehicle as assigned.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
