Job summary

Vienna University of Economics and Business is seeking a part-time researcher to join the Health Economics and Policy Group. The role includes research design, data collection and analysis, and supervision of theses, with about one third dedicated to writing a dissertation and a teaching component for the Bachelor’s Specialization in Health and Social Policy.

• Diploma/master’s in economics, health economics, or relevant social science qualifies for doctoral enrollment at WU.
• Strong background in quantitative methods and proficiency in at least one leading statistical software (Stata or R).
• Prior experience conducting quantitative research; qualitative methods are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Actively contribute to the Health Economics and Policy Group through regular meetings and workshops.
• Collaborate on research projects including design, data collection and analysis, and publications.
• Write a dissertation during your tenure, dedicating about one third of working hours to research.
• Support Bachelor’s level teaching in Health and Social Policy with co-teaching activities (2–3 hours/week).
• Supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s theses in coordination with senior faculty (approximately 2–4 per year).

What to expect

• Institute Life: You will actively contribute to the Health Economics and Policy Group, a vibrant research group within the Institute for Social Policy, by participating in regular meetings, presenting your work at internal workshops, and engaging in the academic life of the institute
• Research: You will collaborate with members of the Health Economics and Policy Group on research projects, contributing to research design, data collection and analysis, and scientific publications.
• Writing a dissertation: You will be investigating your research topic and spending a third of your working hours on writing your dissertation.
• Teaching: You will support teaching in the Bachelor’s Specialization "Health and Social Policy" through co-teaching activities equivalent to approximately 2-3 contact hours per week.
• Supervision: You will contribute to the supervision of Bachelor’s and Master’s theses in collaboration with senior faculty members, supporting approximately 2-4 theses per year.

What you have to offer

• Academic degree: You have a diploma/master’s degree in economics, health economics, or in a relevant social science that qualifies you for enrollment in a doctoral program at WU.
• Quantitative skills: You have a strong background in quantitative methods and are proficient in at least one leading statistical software package, such as Stata or R.
• Research experience: You have prior experience conducting quantitative research.
• Qualitative methods: Experience with qualitative research methods is not required but would be considered an asset.
• Languages: You have an excellent command of English, both written and spoken. German language skills are not required but would be considered an asset.
• Willingness to use multimedia teaching methods: You are prepared to use multimedia teaching and learning formats.

The minimum monthly gross salary amounts to €2,832.08 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on job-related prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
