Base pay range

$25.00/hr - $27.00/hr

Research & Development - R&D Technician Lv1

Monday-Friday during normal business hours 8:00-5:00 PM with some flexibility.

Day shift hours, approximately 30-40 hrs. per week

Duration is expected to be 12 months

We are seeking a highly motivated and reliable R&D Technician Level 1 to join our team and contribute to the support of semi-works production for feed ingredients, research projects, and laboratory operations. This role involves working in a laboratory environment with a focus on sample collection, analysis, and characterization, supporting ongoing production and research. The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific background, the ability to execute tasks independently, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support semi-works (< 1.5 metric tons) production for feed ingredients, including collection and analysis of both in-process and finished feed samples.
  2. Provide analytical support for ongoing research projects, ensuring precise sample testing and data collection.
  3. Perform routine laboratory duties including cleaning, solution preparation, instrument setup, and inventory auditing.
  4. Maintain and report on chemical and supply inventories.
  5. Collect samples and raw materials from a production environment while adhering to safety and operational guidelines.
  6. Support critical production and research needs, with flexibility to adjust priorities as needed.
  7. Ensure laboratory and workplace safety standards are adhered to, including training and participation in safety programs.
  8. Document and communicate findings accurately and in a timely manner, following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and experimental guidelines.
  9. Assist with various testing methods, including wet chemistry, enzymatic assays, HPLC, rheology, moisture determination, and protein analysis.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. B.S. (or M.Sc.) in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Food Science with laboratory experience.
  2. Familiarity with sample preparation and analysis techniques.
  3. Experience with various analytical instruments, including HPLC and nitrogen analysis by combustion.
  4. Proficiency in conducting lab work and maintaining detailed, accurate records.
  5. Ability to work independently with moderate supervision from the lead investigator.
  6. Understanding of safety protocols in a laboratory setting.

Dress Code:

  1. Casual attire: jeans and a shirt (no sleeveless shirts or shorts).
  2. No mesh or open-toed shoes.
  3. Safety boots and glasses will be provided.
  4. Uniform/lab coat provided as needed.

Additional Requirements:

  1. Must complete a background check and drug test.
  2. Onsite interviews will be conducted.
