Global Law Firm in the United States is seeking an experienced Research Analyst to support attorneys and business professionals with legal and business research. This role sits in the Research & Knowledge Management department and reports to the Director.

The position offers a highly competitive salary with bonus and benefits. Location flexibility includes San Diego, Phoenix, or Denver offices, with standard business hours 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. PT.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited institution.
  • 4+ years of law firm research services experience required; practical legal experience a plus.
  • Working knowledge of multiple areas of law.
  • Experience researching case law, statutes, regulations, dockets and trial court filings, expert witness materials, attorney and judicial analytics, and verdicts and settlements.
  • Proficiency with major legal, business, and financial research platforms (Westlaw Precision, Lexis+, Bloomberg Law, Practical Guidance, Practical Law, VitalLaw, CourtLink, D&B Hoovers, S&P Capital IQ).
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use AI-enabled tools in legal or business research, including prompt development and validation of results.

Responsibilities

  • Independently conducts legal and business research of varying complexity and provides concise summaries.
  • Uses AI-enabled research tools and prompts; reviews AI output against authoritative sources.
  • Receives and clarifies research requests; communicates scope, timing, and results.
  • Advises on selection and use of research resources.
  • Provides resource training and guidance as needed.
  • Logs research requests in ticketing system and records billable time.
  • Contributes to department communications and knowledge sharing.
  • Evaluates new research resources for potential value to the firm.
  • Participates in team meetings and knowledge sharing.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements.

COMPENSATION: $89,000 to $112,000

Research Analyst | Global Law Firm | San Diego, Phoenix or Denver Our prestigious and globally recognized global law firm client is hiring an experienced Research Analyst to sit in either their Phoenix, San Diego or Denver offices.The Research Analyst will join the firm’s Research & Knowledge Management department. This is a collaborative role supporting the firm’s attorneys and business professionals with legal and business research. This position is on a team of Research Services professionals and reports to the Director of Research & Knowledge Management. Our client firm is offering a highly competitive salary, bonus and benefit package.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Independently conducts legal and business research of varying complexity, analyzes and synthesizes results, and provides clear, concise summaries of findings to requestors
  • Uses AI-enabled research tools and advanced search technologies, as appropriate, to improve research efficiency; develops effective prompts; and reviews and verifies AI-generated output against authoritative sources before incorporating the results into work product
  • Receives and clarifies research requests from attorneys and business professionals, identifies appropriate research approaches, and communicates regarding scope, timing, and results
  • Advises attorneys and business professionals on the selection and effective use of research resources
  • Provides research resource training and point-of-need guidance
  • Records research requests in the department’s ticket management system and billable research time in the firm’s time entry system in accordance with firm guidelines
  • Contributes to Research Services communications initiatives highlighting resources, services, and capabilities
  • Participates in evaluating new and updated research resources and provides feedback regarding their potential value to the firm
  • Participates in collaborative Research Services and department meetings and contributes to team discussions and knowledge sharing
  • Identifies and implements process improvements related to the position's responsibilities
  • Maintains current knowledge of available and existing research tools applicable to the position's responsibilities, as well as developments in research concepts, techniques, and methods
  • Participates in professional development through internal and external training and involvement in professional associations
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of firm matters
  • Models' qualities and performance expected of firm employees, including attendance, professionalism, engagement, responsiveness, and high-quality work product
  • Uses resources in compliance with firm policies and licensing requirements
REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate research results and synthesize relevant information into clear, concise summaries
  • Team mindset and excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with a focus on responsive, high-quality service
