About the Company

We have the following job opportunity in our New York City office:

About the Role

The Research Analyst role will involve working as part of a multi-disciplined team consisting of analysts, actuaries, underwriters and management to inform TransRe's own view of risk around the globe. Such view incorporates modeled elements as well as a substantial number of non-modeled perils/regions and will be continuously updated and refined over time.

Responsibilities

  • Manage analytical projects and deliver to deadlines
  • Devise and conduct appropriate tests that expose fundamental, relevant model assumptions and methodologies
  • Present project results in a clear and precise manner, both written and oral
  • Ability to work with others to support business decisions, regulatory requirements, and data quality improvements
  • Provide support to portfolio management and underwriting decisions on all product lines

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (preferably MS or PhD) in mathematics, science, engineering, computer science, or similar academic background

Required Skills

  • Hands-on experience in software/application development of natural hazards models, preferably at least one of the following: AIR, RMS, GEM. Prefer CEEM or CCRA certified.
  • Proficiency with SQL, Python, R, Power BI; programming experience in an insurance/reinsurance environment is desirable
  • Confidence to develop analytic estimates using incomplete information and sometimes only with their professional intuition and judgment
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision; work effectively in a team as well as individually
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, engage multiple stakeholders from across the business and build consensus

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in a similar role for at least 3 years

Pay range and compensation package

In addition to base salary, for this position, TransRe offers a comprehensive benefits package, paid time off, and incentive pay opportunity. The anticipated annual base salary range in New York for this position, exclusive of benefits, paid time off, and incentive pay opportunity is $95,000 – $110,000. This range is an estimate, and the actual base salary offered for this position will be determined based on certain factors, including the applicant’s specific skill set and level of experience.
