• Synthesize research into clear investment narratives, identify developments, risks, and diligence needs.
• Prepare and present findings to senior investment team during regular reviews.
• Support opportunities from initial diligence through closing, including reviewing transaction docs.
• Monitor portfolio by tracking SEC filings, capital markets activity, industry developments and events.

Our client is a leading Chicago investment firm seeking a Research Analyst to join its investment team. This is an opportunity for an intellectually curious, highly detail-oriented individual to take a deep dive into companies, support investment decisions, and build a long-term career within the firm.

What You’ll Do:

• Conduct comprehensive research and due diligence on prospective portfolio companies, analyzing financial and operating performance, capital raising activity, management teams, corporate structure, trading activity, litigation, and other relevant factors
• Investigate the broader story behind an investment opportunity, including a company’s history, management motivations, market position, and ability to attract outside capital
• Synthesize research into clear investment narratives, identifying key developments, trends, risks, and areas requiring further diligence
• Prepare and present findings to senior members of the investment team during regular investment review meetings
• Support investment opportunities from initial diligence through structuring and closing, including reviewing transaction documentation and ensuring key details are addressed
• Monitor existing portfolio companies by following financial and operating performance, SEC filings, capital markets activity, industry developments, and other material events
• Collaborate with senior team members throughout the investment and portfolio monitoring process
