Job summary

Boston Children's Hospital is seeking an experienced Research Administrative professional to perform pre- and post-award duties under supervision. You will coordinate institutional reviews, monitor funds, prepare reports, and collaborate with central offices to ensure compliance with sponsor terms.

The role includes assisting in grant renewals and closeouts and participating in ongoing policy training to stay current with hospital and sponsor requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; a bachelor’s degree OR 2 years of research administrative or financial experience may substitute for degree.
  • 2 years of research administrative or financial experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in pre-award tasks like preparing grant applications per sponsor guidelines and hospital policy.
  • Coordinate collection of grant materials and approvals to ensure timely submission.
  • Prepare financial transactions and approve purchase requisitions per policy.
  • Collaborate with Research Administration, Research Finance, and Accounts Payable to resolve issues.
  • Assist in reviewing financial reports to monitor grant expenses and compliance with terms.
  • Assist in preparing effort and financial reports for Principal Investigators to monitor spending.
  • Participate in grant/award renewals and closeouts; attend institutional training to stay current with sponsor regulations and hospital policies.

Education

May prepare effort reports and financial transactions, and other reports according to established policies and procedures for approval by Department/Division/Program or Research Manager. May have signature authority on restricted funds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assists in pre-award functions such as preparing grant applications to ensure conformity with relevant sponsor guidelines, regulations, and hospital policy.
  • Coordinates collection of grant application materials and receipt of institutional reviews and approvals to ensure timely submission. May assist in budget preparation as needed.
  • Prepares financial transactions, such as employee travel and other reimbursements, and approves purchase requisitions in accordance with sponsor and hospital policy.
  • Works with appropriate institutional central offices (Research Administration, Research Finance, Accounts Payable, etc.) to troubleshoot and resolve matters.
  • Assists in the review of financial reports to monitor grant expenses to ensure compliance with sponsored award terms/conditions.
  • Assists in preparing effort and financial reports for Principal Investigators to assist them in monitoring spending rates and planning for future spending needs.
  • Participates in timely grant/award renewal process and the orderly closeout of sponsored activities. Attends institutional training to keep skills current and knowledge up-to-date on sponsor regulations, Hospital policies, and emerging technologies.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
  • A high school diploma/ GED; a bachelor’s degree OR 2 years of research administrative or financial experience may substitute for degree.
Experience
  • 2 years of research administrative or financial experience

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
