Research Administration Associate - Research Contracts Division: Office of Research Work Arrangement: Hybrid Location: Hybrid within Greater Houston, TX Salary Range: $70,618 - $83,080 FLSA Status: Exempt Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Research Administration Associate (RAA) supports BCM's clinical and biomedical research initiatives through managing the full life cycle of research agreements. The RAA is responsible for drafting, negotiating, and managing all research contracts related to material and data transfer, academic collaboration, and academic confidential disclosure agreements. The RAA is responsible for ensuring that all terms and conditions of the contract are acceptable in accordance with BCM standards, ensures the safety of our animal and human subjects, and ensures that all provisions are to the best interest of BCM and its principal investigators.

Employees with Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification are eligible for certification pay.

Job Duties

• Handles the drafting, negotiation, execution and processing of material transfer, data use agreements, and other various research agreements (50%)
• Routinely and consistently communicates with all stakeholders including faculty, department administrators, students, post-docs, and other entity counterparts (30%)
• Manages the execution process in various tracking systems (10%)
• Consistently updates the agreements database throughout the life cycle of each contract (10%)
• Monitors communications and coordinates duties with team members
• Attends and participates in weekly office meetings and periodic training opportunities
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree. Certified Research Administrator certification through the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) may substitute for the degree requirement.
• Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• M.S, Ph.D, or Professional masters in Life Sciences may be considered in lieu of required experience
• Basic understanding of life sciences
• Prior contract management and negotiation experience
• Prior research administration work experience in academic research setting
• Strong communication skills
