Job summary

CORE Occupational Medicine is seeking a Rescue Technician for the Carlsbad, NM area on a PRN basis, with day and night shifts and potential overtime and per diem available. The role focuses on hazard assessment, rescue operations, and safety compliance to protect workers in demanding environments.

The position requires CPR/First Responder training, rescue certifications, and a high school diploma, with EMT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in hazard assessment and drafts Confined Space Rescue Preplan and Rescue Safety Analysis.
• Identifies and communicates potential hazards to all affected parties.
• Determines hazard controls and emergency contingency plans; ensures PPE is available and functional.
• May conduct air quality monitoring and advise on hazard controls and PPE needs.
• Conducts daily job briefings with customers and workers.
• Monitors job conditions and equipment resources; reports findings to supervisor.
• Renders first aid and CPR to the level of training.

We are looking for an experienced Rescue Technician to join our team in the Carlsbad, NM, area. This is a PRN position, day and night shifts, with OT and per diem available to qualified candidates.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

• Assists in assessing potential hazards and drafts a Confined Space Rescue Preplan and a Rescue Safety Analysis.
• Identifies and communicates potential hazards to all affected parties.
• Determines hazard controls and emergency contingency plans and ensures that required safety equipment and PPE is readily available and in good working order.
• May conduct general air quality monitoring and make recommendations for hazard control or personal protective equipment based on the interpretation of this data.
• Conducts daily job briefings with customer and workers.
• Performs on-going monitoring of job conditions and equipment resources and reports observations and recommendations to supervisor to assure both worker and team safety is maintained at all times. Completes daily IC(S?) reports.
• Renders first aid and CPR to the level of training.

• Possesses critical reasoning skills and is capable of applying them effectively in stressful situations.
• Demonstrates effective communication (verbal, written & listening) and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in the petrochemical, municipal or industrial safety equipment industry.
• Ability to inspect, clean and perform preventative maintenance on all rescue equipment.

Physical Assessment

• This is a safety sensitive position. A drug screen with breath alcohol test and fit-for-duty exam will be required prior to employment.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent

Training Requirements

• Rescue Certifications including Rescue 1 Certification (aka Confined Space), and Rescue 2 Certification (aka Rope Rescue or High Angle)
• State licensed EMT (preferred)
• First Responder & CPR Minimum
• Valid Driver's License
