Job summary

CBS News and Stations is looking for an aggressive and creative Reporter in Denver, Colorado. The ideal candidate will have a passion for journalism and must excel in breaking news coverage as well as in-depth storytelling.

Responsibilities include reporting news, conducting interviews, and writing content for multiple platforms. A minimum of three years of on-air experience is preferred, along with strong social media skills. The selected candidate will join a dedicated newsroom and participate actively in community events.

Responsibilities

• Report scripted and unscripted, with clarity, accuracy, and confidence; cover breaking news with a sense of urgency.
• Conduct compelling in-person interviews; collaborate effectively with a wide range of personnel to create compelling content; develop and execute enterprise content on a consistent basis.
• Maintain a steadfast commitment to accuracy and fairness.
• Write clearly and interestingly and use video and graphics to illustrate facts and ideas in the story; shoot, write and edit packages for daily newscasts.
• Have strong live shot skills.
• Generate story ideas and participate in editorial meetings; produce content for social media and streaming service.
• Appear at public and station events as required; establish and maintain relationships/sources in the community.

Qualifications

• Three years’ experience on air, preferably in a top 20 market.
• Must be able to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and have the ability to solve problems quickly.
• Must have very strong social media skills and be able to contribute on all platforms.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and on-call shifts.
• Other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements

• College degree preferred or equivalent experience.

Compensation

Hiring salary range: $56.25 - 56.25 per hour (for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies). Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
