ADWEEK is seeking an ambitious reporter to cover the blending of commerce, technology, and advertising shaping the retail space from ADWEEK’s New York office.
You will author 3-4 bylined articles per week on commerce, build sources, and develop deep, agenda-setting stories for our audience, while contributing to ADWEEK franchises and events.
ADWEEK is seeking an ambitious, intrepid, and resourceful reporter to cover the blending of the commerce, technology, and advertising industries that is rapidly shaping the retail industry. This role will focus on breaking news, delivering deeply reported stories, and providing sharp and unique analysis that differentiates ADWEEK’s coverage and helps our audience understand the changing space.
The commerce reporter will develop sources across retailers, brands, and advertising technology companies to establish themselves as the go-to expert on retail media. You’ll dig into Amazon’s $70 billion ad business, look at Walmart’s evolving strategy, and track how commerce companies of all sizes are building and justifying their ad businesses. You’ll also follow emerging business trends including agentic commerce and social shopping.
Success in this role requires strong reporting instincts, curiosity, persistence, and the ability to build trusted sources within key companies. You should enjoy working on a mix of scoops, news, trends, and feature stories—and have the ability to frame them in new and interesting ways for our audience. This role reports to ADWEEK’s deputy editor of commerce and collaborates closely with the ADWEEK editorial team. The position is hybrid and based in ADWEEK’s New York office.
