Phillips 66’s Ponca City Refinery seeks a Repairman Apprentice to perform installation, maintenance and repair of rotating equipment across refinery areas. The role involves reading machine drawings, P&IDs and manuals to execute tasks safely and efficiently, with exposure to weather, high temperatures and hazardous materials.

The position requires 3+ years in pump repair, machinist, or diesel mechanic fields, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to obtain a TWIC.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in pump repair, machinist, or diesel mechanic fields.
• Associate degree or apprenticeship/certification in pump repair, machinist, or diesel mechanics preferred.
• Basic computer skills including e‑mail, MS Office, and SAP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain rotating equipment.
• Read machine drawings, P&IDs, schematics, and manuals.
• Perform basic rigging.
• Coordinate work of others as needed.
• Operate forklift, man-lifts, and overhead cranes.
• Operate torque equipment (pneumatic, hydraulic, manual).
• Machining tasks: lathe, milling, shaft grinding, drilling, sawing.
• Perform shaft alignment (laser).
• Remove and install mechanical seals; troubleshoot and repair.

As a Repairman Apprentice, Ponca City Refinery, you will work in the maintenance department of the Refinery. The position is typically a straight day job but subject to occasional shift work, turnarounds, call outs and occasional mandatory overtime. Repairmen are responsible for repairing, altering, fabricating, removing, installing, assembling, troubleshooting and servicing a wide variety of processing equipment. Equipment includes pumps, seals, valves, fans, reciprocating compressors, centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, and gearboxes. This work takes place in all areas of the refinery and is outside exposed to the weather elements and to blowing air, heat, noise and vibration. The refinery processes involve hazardous and volatile materials under high temperatures and pressures. The work may take place at heights on vessels and towers and/or in confined spaces.

What You’ll Bring – Required

• Legally authorized to work in the job posting country


• At least 18 years of age


• Possess a valid Driver’s License


• 3 or more years of experience in either pump repair, machinist, or diesel mechanic field

Compensation

This position has a starting hourly contract rate of $42.13. Future pay increases will be based on the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The Ponca City Refinery is located in Ponca City, Oklahoma, approximately 95 miles northwest of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Its facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes a mixture of light, medium and heavy crude oil delivered via pipeline from Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, the U.S. Rockies and Canada. Infrastructure improvements have enabled the delivery of locally produced crude oil by pipeline and truck. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels and anode-grade petroleum coke. Refined products are primarily distributed to customers by company-owned and common carrier pipelines to markets throughout the Midcontinent region.
