Job summary

MSA Safety is hiring for a Service Center Technician at our West Chester, PA facility. The 1st shift runs 6:00 am – 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday. You will troubleshoot, repair, calibrate and service MSA detection and protection products, while handling SAP-based service orders and customer communications.

Responsibilities include inspecting products, providing quotes, preparing items for shipment, and supporting training programs as needed. Prior instrumentation/service experience is welcomed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a repair service position is typical; Level I/II/III described.
• Experience with repair, service, training or support of instrumentation or related safety products is preferred.
• Experience with gas detection instrumentation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, adjust, calibrate, update or repair MSA detection/protection products as required.
• Inspect and evaluate products to determine service or repair needs based on customer requests.
• Troubleshoot failed subassemblies, PCBs or components using proper tools and docs.
• Perform repairs, tests and calibrations per procedures.
• Enter/update service orders in SAP and provide estimates to customers or staff.

Now hiring at our West Chester, PA Service Center for a Service Center Technician. In this role you would be counted on for the following activities:

• Troubleshooting, adjusting, calibrating, updating or repairing all MSA detection or protection products as required.
• Inspection and evaluation of products to determine service or repair needs in response to customer requests and problems reported.
• Troubleshooting the failed subassembly, PCB or component using appropriate tools, test equipment and documents.
• Performing repairs, tests and calibrations per the appropriate test specifications and procedures.
• Entering and updating service order transactions on SAP system. Provides estimates both verbally to customers or MSA staff.
• Recording labor, materials and description of services provided on SAP system and service forms as required.
• Providing quotes via the SAP quotation or other means as required.
• Preparing products for shipment or customer pickup.
• Interfacing with customers, MSA staff and any other required parties via telephone, email, in writing or in person as needed to effectively communicate regarding service or inventory transactions.
• Completing and maintaining associated paperwork
• Learning MSA products and training programs via train the trainer programs conducted by MSA instructors or technical personnel.
• Learning new products via hands-on work with the products, operation and associated documentation.
• May provide support in CARE, RITE, MERIT and similar MSA repair training courses to end customers and channel partners using power point presentations and hands-on instruction on actual products.
• May provide product training on specific products as required by end customers.
• Maintaining product training resources including products, training equipment and tools.
• Providing technical support to customers, channel partners or MSA staff on MSA detection and protection products as required.
• Interfacing with customer service, technical support or other MSA staff to provide support.

Qualifications

Experience Required:

• Level I - Less than 2 years of experience in a repair service position
• Level II - 2-3 years of experience in a repair service position
• Level III - 5 years of experience in a repair service position

Relevant work experience with product or electronic instrumentation may be substituted.

Experience Preferred:

• Experience with repair, service, training or support of instrumentation or related safety products. Prior experience with the service and support of gas detection instrumentation. Experience with Neutronics High Purity equipment is preferred.
