Job summary

SIMCO-Electronics in Sterling, VA is seeking a Repair Technician to calibrate and repair test measurement and diagnostic equipment across Life Science, RF/Telecommunications, and Semiconductor markets. This role requires applying knowledge of electronics and measurement theory in semi-routine tasks.

You will enter repair data into the SMCS database, prepare quotations and calibration certificates, and may train other technicians while traveling to domestic and possibly international locations.

Qualifications

• AA degree in Electrical Technologies or equivalent.
• Ability to perform mathematical computations related to measurement analysis.
• Minimum four years of electronic repair and calibration experience.
• Strong knowledge of electronic circuit theory and advanced soldering skills.
• Familiar with calibration laboratory workstations.
• Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
• Must follow written procedures and be a team player.
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, test, troubleshoot, and repair systems to the component level of test measurement and diagnostic equipment.
• Enter repair and calibration data into SIMCO Main Computer System (SMCS) database.
• Prepare repair quotations and calibration reports and certificates related to assignments in a timely manner.
• Perform calibrations and repair in one or more of the following skill areas, as applicable: Bio-Med instrumentation, LCR and Impedance, Nuclear and Radiation Physics, RF/Microwave Power, Frequency, and Impedance, Sound Pressure Level, Spectrum and Network Analysis, Time Interval and Frequency, Voltage & Current, Waveform Analysis, Phase, and Distortion.
• Receive and complete training on repair and calibration procedures, documentation, and SMCS.
• Assist in the training of other technicians on specialized skills.
• Regular interaction with other technicians, CSRs, Account Managers, management, and customers.

Full Time Sterling, VA, US

Salary Range: $30.00 To $35.00 Hourly

Position Overview

The Repair Technician will apply knowledge of measurement science, mathematics, physics and electronics to perform calibration and repair of test measurement and diagnostic equipment used in the Life Science, RF/Telecommunications, and Semiconductor/Electronic Components markets. This position will normally receive general instructions on work assignments that are semi-routine in nature and where the ability to recognize and apply technical deviations from general troubleshooting and repair is required. The Repair Technician will identify and utilize appropriate manual and automated measurement procedures. The Repair Technician will perform laboratory and work area housekeeping.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Minimum AA degree in Electrical Technologies, formal PMEL, or equivalent.
2. Must be able to perform mathematical computations related to specification and measurement analysis.
3. Minimum four years of electronic repair and calibration education and experience.
4. Strong knowledge of electronic circuit theory and advanced soldering skills.
5. Familiar with general calibration and repair laboratory workstations.
6. Must have great interpersonal and customer service skills.
7. Strong attention to details.
8. Must possess good written, oral, and documentation skills.
9. Must be a self-motivator, work as a team player, and follow written procedures.
10. Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.

Physical Demands

1. Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds without assistance.
2. Occasional standing and bending are required.
3. Works primarily in a laboratory or manufacturing environment at a SIMCO location and/or customer sites.
4. Travel may be required to other domestic and possibly international locations.
