Job summary

Penske Truck Leasing Indianapolis is seeking a Collision Repair Shop Assistant to keep the repair facility organized, move vehicles and parts, and support yard and shop operations. This entry-level role helps technicians stay focused on repairs by handling staging, inventory, and routine cleaning.

You’ll work with parts coordinators, estimators, technicians and painters, follow safety rules, and gain exposure to future roles such as parts coordinator or technician.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Forklift certification a plus (training provided onsite).
• Prior shop, warehouse, or automotive experience preferred but not required.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, multitasking ability.
• Reliable and eager to learn and contribute.
• Teamwork, initiative, and willingness to grow in technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an extra set of hands for parts handling—unpacking, sorting, and moving parts safely and orderly.
• Assist with returns and packaging cleanup, including breaking down boxes for pickup or recycling.
• Maintain organization of the parts room and shop stock.
• Stage next units for repair by ensuring required parts and vehicles are ready to minimize downtime.
• Safely move vehicles in/out of the yard, organize the yard, and assist with offsite pickups/deliveries as needed.
• Perform daily cleaning of floors, tools, and work areas to maintain a clean environment.
• Support with light equipment adjustments and organize tool rooms and storage areas.
• Assist with vehicle washing or detailing when requested.
• Operate forklifts, carts, and man lifts as certified and follow safety standards.
