Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO seeks a material control professional to identify and requisition all material and subcontractor services for contracts in Repair. You will liaison with Production, Purchasing and Estimating on material issues to ensure timely fulfillment.

Reports to the Manager, Repair Estimating or the Supervisor of Repair Material Control; interacts with ship managers, inspectors, estimators, and contract admins to support production schedules.

Qualifications

• Experience with company material requisitioning, procurement, receipt, warehousing, withdrawal and shipment procedures.
• Ability to operate PC, mainframe terminals and material management system programs.
• Understanding of shipboard systems and blueprint reading is desirable.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Participates in continuous improvement to safety, quality, cycle time and costs.

Responsibilities

• Generate requisitions for material and subcontractor requirements based on contract specs and drawings.
• Process production-generated material and subcontract requisitions with complete information.
• Enter all material and subcontract requirements into MAC/PAC for formal purchasing requisitions.
• Maintain active files of requisitions and purchase orders by job and contract.
• Assist Purchasing with material problems including specification/drawing/technical manual reviews.
• Write IDRs to notify customers of potential problems.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
