Job summary

Mannington Mills, Inc. is seeking a Repair technician in the Quality Control department.

This 1st shift position runs 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with overtime, weekends, and flexible hours as needed to ensure continuous carpet quality and production flow. You will verify SKUs, inspect carpets, mark and repair defects, measure width, color, bow and skew, perform sidematch and re-measures, and conduct administrative duties.

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to stand for long shifts and lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Must pass color deficiency testing (Ishihara) and FM-100 color test.
  • Experience with greige or finished rolls repair and SAP is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Verify SKU, inspect carpet, mark defects, and repair defects as needed.
  • Verify width, style, and color; check bow/skew and perform sidematch.
  • Perform repairs on greige and finished rolls and conduct re-measures.
  • Attend to administrative duties and maintain safety and housekeeping.

Job Title: Repair

Department: Quality Control

Work Schedule: 1st Shift - 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday - Friday, but the hours vary. The day doesn't end at a set time. You must be able to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends.

Essential Duties

The following are the essential duties that I am expected to be able to perform considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skills, judgment, safety knowledge and responsibility.

  • How to verify the SKU
  • How to inspect the carpet
  • How to mark defects or repairs
  • How to verify the width, style and color
  • How to check bow/ skew
  • How to perform sidematch
  • How to determine defect codes
  • How to repair and/or cut greige rolls
  • How to repair finished rolls
  • How to perform re-measures
  • How to perform administrative duties
  • How to sharpen the cross-cut knife
  • How to perform housekeeping duties

Note: Required to do any other tasks assigned by Supervisor.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

Education

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.

Physical

  • Must be able to stand for at least nine (9) hours of a ten (10) hour shift.
  • Must be able to bend/kneel to repair short term defects.
  • Must be available up to 14 hrs a day with little advance notice.
  • Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to spend moderate amount of time working on hands and knees.
  • Must be able to pull and thread greige goods through roll up.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend steps on repair table numerous times during the shift.

Color Deficiency Test

  • Must be able to pass the Ishihara test for color deficiency.
  • Must score 50 or less on the FM-100 Color Test.

Skills

  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable working with computers.
  • Must be able to pass a color perception test.
  • Must be able to repair greige and finished rolls.

Experience

  • Must have prior greige goods or finished goods repair experience.
  • Must have computer experience - SAP preferably.

Responsibility

Responsible for meeting the requirements for safety, quality, efficiency, productivity and housekeeping.

Training

  • Required to complete approximately two (2) weeks training under supervision of qualified associate.
  • Required to have certified LTO license. Must be recertified every two (2) years.

Other

Overtime is / may be required.

Safety and Security Requirements
  • Required to abide by corporate safety rules and follow all security guidelines. Additional rules are posted in each department as needed.
  • Must report any unsafe activity to direct Supervisor.
  • Required to wear safety glasses when operating a lift truck or using compressed air.
  • Use legs for leverage when lifting heavy objects. Bend legs before lifting.
  • Use scissors safely. Must keep scissors in holster while not in use.
  • Keep air hoses hung up and out of the floor to avoid tripping.
  • Take all necessary precautions when using carpet cleaning chemicals.
  • Be aware of lift truck traffic.
  • When using GTO 2000 for cleaning carpet, you must wear eye protection.
  • Always drag cores instead of pushing them. Pushing cores are a slip/trip hazard due to the core may get caught on something causing associate injury.
