Job summary

Ashley Furniture Industries is seeking a Furniture Repair Technician to repair and refinish furniture at distribution centers, stores, guests' homes, or virtually. You will inspect products, determine repairability, and restore items to like-new condition using refinishing and upholstery techniques.

Responsibilities include completing paperwork, following safety practices, and participating in training and certification programs.

Qualifications

PURPOSE

The Furniture Repair Technician is responsible for repairing and refinishing furniture at the distribution centres, stores, in our guests' homes or virtual. CORE DUTIES

  • Inspect of all assembled products in the run lane for delivery and assess if products can be repaired or must be replaced.
  • Restore product to like-new conditions using proven techniques, including refinishing, re-upholstery, painting, etc.
  • Repair damaged stock, wood, fabric, leather, and metal furniture using approved methods.
  • Understand and follow all safe work practices and rules, including WHMIS.
  • Document and complete service reports and paperwork, including inventory control information.
  • Completion of electronic paperwork within our software platform
  • Communicate any issues (mechanical or otherwise) on the service vehicles.
  • Attend training on furniture repair topics.
  • Inspect and validate the repair parts.
  • Understand, follow, and ensure compliance with all safe work practices and rules.
  • Assure compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate the company’s values in all aspects of their work performance.
  • Participate in our National Certification program.

Qualifications Experience
  • Previous repair, set up and/or warehouse experience.
  • Good computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn in-house computer programs.

EDUCATION
  • High School diploma with two years of practical work experience in furniture repair, including upholstery, leather repairs, and wood refinishing.
  • Combination of education and experience will be considered. CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Good physical condition with stamina to lift at least 50 – 100 pounds.
  • Able to conduct physical work in warm and cold conditions.

  • Driver’s License Required.

  • Office Work Environment: Company office locations which may include separate offices, workstations, communal workspaces.
