Job summary

Bering Straits Development Company in Nome, AK is seeking a Rental Vehicle Manager to oversee the rental fleet operations and supporting hotel reservation activities.

You will manage vehicle bookings, check-ins/outs, and coordinate maintenance while delivering high-quality customer service across diverse shifts.

Requirements include a high school diploma, a clean driving record, and strong leadership; hospitality/rental experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operational activities of the rental fleet
  • Managing the rental vehicle business booking systems and checking in and out of rental vehicles
  • Motivating team members and resolving any issues that occur on the job
  • Communicating effectively with customers, responding to all customer inquiries and concerns in a professional and friendly manner both on the telephone and in person
  • Ensuring the highest levels of customer experience for all vehicle renters and guests of the hotel
  • Working a variety of scheduled shifts, including mid-shifts, evenings and weekends
  • Ensuring effective damage reporting to minimize unnecessary repair
  • Demonstrating strong leadership and effective communication skills and motivating and encouraging good teamwork
  • Coordinating all rental fleet maintenance needs with the Maintenance Shop
  • Managing light hotel maintenance needs
  • Operating the hotel reservation system, taking and making reservations via phone, email, and in person and assisting with checking guests in and out of the hotel
  • Learning and operating both the Rental Vehicle Reservation System and Hotel Reservation System

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

Education Requirements: Must have a High school diploma. Secondary Education is a plus. Level of Experience Requirements: Must have a clean driving record and have held a license for at least 2 years Stamina to handle the physical demands of the job for example: occasional lifting and carrying 40 lbs Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

Additional Qualifying Factors

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required and must also be able to obtain access to military installations.
