Job summary

The AES Corporation, a leading US-based power company, is seeking an attorney with experience in financing renewable energy projects. You will support project development and financing for solar, wind, and storage projects, serving as internal counsel on tax equity, credits, and debt financings.

You will draft and negotiate project-related documents, coordinate closings with internal and outside counsel, and provide strategic legal guidance to senior management in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of relevant experience, preferably at a major law firm or sophisticated in-house legal group.
• Experience in renewable energy project finance, project development and project-related documentation.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to adapt to a variety of duties and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Smart, decisive, organized, methodical, biased toward action.

Responsibilities

• Attend to all aspects and issues related to renewable project development and financing, with a special focus on financing of solar, solar plus storage, stand-alone storage and wind projects.
• Act as internal counsel on tax equity, tax credit transfer and debt financings for such projects as well as corporate financings.
• Structure, draft, review and effectively negotiate financing transactions as well as project-related documents (e.g., power purchase agreements, engineering, procurement and construction contracts).
• Manage and coordinate closings with AES team members and outside counsel.
• Effectively and efficiently engage and manage outside counsel.
• Provide general legal counsel and strategic guidance to senior and executive level management.
