Location: Belleville, MI. Work Schedule: 40 hours per week | Shift schedule may vary based on operational needs. Pay Rate: $33.21 per hour. Employment Type: Long-Term Contract.
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Renewable Asset Operator to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of renewable energy assets from the Operations Control Center. This position monitors renewable generation facilities, responds to changing operating conditions, minimizes equipment downtime, and maximizes asset performance using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and operational monitoring tools. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining system reliability, coordinating with field personnel and external partners, and supporting renewable energy production objectives.
What You'll Do
- Monitor and operate renewable generation assets and associated equipment from the Operations Control Center.
- Respond quickly to changing operating conditions to maximize asset availability and generation performance.
- Utilize SCADA systems to maintain safe, efficient, and continuous operation of renewable facilities.
- Monitor operating parameters, data points, alarms, sensor outputs, and system conditions to identify faults and operational concerns.
- Analyze weather and environmental conditions including wind speed, wind direction, turbulence, irradiance, storms, and other factors impacting generation performance.
- Monitor equipment temperatures, voltage, current, power output, and system reactive power levels.
- Adjust plant control settings through OEM and Enterprise SCADA systems to optimize renewable asset performance.
- Utilize Excel spreadsheets and operational reporting tools to perform real-time analysis and evaluate asset performance.
- Maintain detailed operational logs, reports, and documentation.
- Communicate with field sites, operations personnel, maintenance providers, and grid operators regarding operational conditions and system performance.
- Respond to dispatch instructions and coordinate activities supporting system reliability.
- Troubleshoot communication, telemetry, and data issues affecting renewable asset operations.
- Support emergency response procedures, business continuity plans, and system restoration activities when needed.
- Maintain accurate records regarding unit commitments, dispatch activities, and operating conditions.
- Manage generating unit capability reporting and performance tracking activities.
- Support operational improvement initiatives that enhance asset reliability, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Perform administrative and reporting duties in support of control center operations.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates may qualify through one of the following:
- Option 1: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) years of wind industry or related operational experience.
- Option 2: Associate degree or technical school certificate in Engineering, Business, Renewable Energy, Technology, or a related field.
- One (1) year of wind industry or related operational experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating, monitoring, or controlling renewable energy assets.
- Experience utilizing SCADA systems or similar monitoring platforms.
- Experience within wind, solar, utility, power generation, energy operations, manufacturing operations, or industrial control environments.
- Knowledge of renewable energy generation and operational concepts.
- Experience analyzing operational data and performance trends.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
