Job summary

RES is seeking an OCC Operator I in Colorado to monitor and control renewable energy assets (Solar, BESS, Wind) from the Operations Control Center. You will ensure continuous, safe operation, maintain logs, and support scheduling and maintenance activities with a team-focused mindset.

Ideal candidates have at least an Associate’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience, 2+ years in a control room or renewable energy setting, and strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

  • Monitor and operate renewable assets across the fleet with alarm resolution and curtailment procedures.
  • Maintain SCADA connectivity and resolve SCADA/communication failures.
  • Keep formal logs of real-time activities and communications as required by procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and operate renewable assets within the OCC, ensuring safe and efficient generation.
  • Coordinate with local site personnel, balancing authorities, and ISO scheduling entities.
  • Support O&M and Asset Management with rapid market responses and outage scheduling.

Summary

OCC Operator I is a control room operator with full responsibility for operating and monitoring within our Operations Control Center (OCC) the status of all renewable energy assets (Solar, BESS, Wind) on a continuous basis to ensure that the system meets its generating requirements while operating in a safe and efficient manner. Operator Iensuresthat all renewable energy assets operations are conducted in the most efficient and reliable manner and according to industry best practices. Operator Ioperateswithin all regulatory requirements, as well as environmental and safety standards

Requirements
  • Monitors and operates renewable assets within our fleet including alarm and warning resolution, curtailment procedures, call-out procedures, casualty control, and emergency action planning.
  • Ensures maximum SCADA connectivity and resolving SCADA/communication failures to ensure control and monitoring capabilities are always available.
  • Follows optimized communication systems for our renewable energy asset fleet, between the OCC and local site personnel, balancing authorities, transmission operators, and off-takers.
  • Maintains formal operator logs of real-time activities, notifications, and communications as required by procedural and contractual requirements.
  • Supports the operations of the O&M and Asset Management Group to help provide a rapid market response to certain pertinent events and to support cost-effective ISO scheduling and settlements.
  • Supports scheduling unplanned outages with Scheduling Entities.
  • Actively supports the Maintenance Team in the execution of maintenance plans by providing support (Lockout/Tagout), equipment identification, troubleshooting, work request preparation, or other areas as needed.
  • Participates in the administrative maintenance of plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams, and preventive/predictive maintenance records.
  • Maintains RES safety standards.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
  • High energy, positive, and ability to work well in a team environment with a proven attention to detail.
Qualifications
  • Associate’sDegreeTechnical/Electrical/Engineering (or work experience below) required.
  • 2+ yearsor more Control Room experience or renewable energy experiencerequired.
  • Scheduling/progress control techniques.
  • Ability to work in high-pressure situations.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • High energy, positive, and ability to work well in a team environment with proven attention to detail.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred and direct experience in operations control centers.
  • Proficient knowledge of energy management and trending analysis software, SCADA, and Microsoft Office software.
  • Functional competencies include teamwork, communication, passion, continuous improvement,and attention to detail.
  • Domestic travel5-15%required.
  • Valid Driver's LicenseNotrequired.

Anticipated base salary range: $30.50 - $38.13

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
