Job summary

Farnsworth Group seeks a Renewable Energy Civil Engineer to join our team in Denver, CO or St. Louis, MO. You will design civil components for solar, wind, and energy storage projects, from feasibility through final construction, while coordinating with multiple disciplines and clients.

Ideal candidates bring 5–10 years of civil engineering experience, an ABET‑accredited degree, and proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, with EIT/PE certifications encouraged. Hybrid work options are available.

Qualifications

• ABET‑accredited civil engineering degree required.
• 5–10 years of civil engineering experience desired.
• Experience with solar, BESS, wind or similar renewable energy projects preferred.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) and PE registration preferred.
• AutoCAD and Civil 3D proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Provide civil engineering design for renewable energy projects from concept to construction.
• Prepare and review civil design plans and related documents.
• Provide project management alongside the Client’s project manager.
• Manage relationships with clients and agencies.
• Conduct field observations and site assessments.

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Renewable Energy Civil Engineer in the posting locations below. In this role, you will work with experienced engineers on a wide variety of projects for renewable energy clients. Types of projects include solar, battery storage (BESS), and wind projects as well as other projects within the Renewable Energy industry. Project tasks may include, but are not limited to, site layout, grading, access road design, stormwater/drainage studies, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling. Work encompasses entire projects, including the initial due diligence phase through conceptual/preliminary design phases, and all the way through the final design, construction, and record drawing phases. This position includes opportunities to serve as Project Manager for various renewable energy projects. What You’ll Do

• Provide civil engineering technical support and design for the development of renewable energy projects (conceptual through final design and construction), as part of an engineering team
• Prepare, develop, and review civil engineering design and construction plans and related documents
• Provide project management working directly with the Client’s project manager
• Manage, support, and build relationships with clients and agencies
• Conduct project field observation and condition assessments
• Prepare project proposals
• Collaborate with other Farnsworth Group disciplines and consultants
• Communicate with clients regarding current and future projects

What You’ll Need

• BS or MS in Civil Engineering, from an ABET accredited institution
• 5-10 years of civil engineering experience
• 2+ years of experience in solar, BESS, wind or similar renewable energy projects preferred
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
• Professional Engineering (PE) registration
• AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience required
• Design experience on wind, solar and/or BESS projects preferred
• Ability and willingness to manage and contribute to several projects concurrently
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Computer proficiency with MS Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project
• Ability to travel and have a valid driver’s license
