Job summary

Cayuga Health in Ithaca is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Specialist to administer the self-insured WC program, ensuring regulatory compliance and cost-effective claims handling. You will partner with HR, Risk, Finance, and TPAs to align with organizational goals and to support timely return-to-work initiatives.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Experience with TPAs, brokers, excess carriers, and external legal counsel preferred.
• Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Experience in workers’ compensation, claims management, or risk management preferred, especially in a self-insured environment.
• Knowledge of New York State WCB requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and administer Centralus Health’s self-insured Workers’ Compensation program, including filing and managing injury reports through disposition.
• Manage WC-related spend, including claim costs, TPA services, NYS WCB assessments, and excess WC coverage; identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Develop and monitor early return-to-work and transitional duty programs.
• Standardize WC processes across units to improve efficiency and reduce TPA fragmentation.
• Complete NYS WCB quarterly and annual self-insured assessments.
