Job summary

NC State University is seeking a UTS- Temporary Web Designer at UNC Chapel Hill to complete development and launch a WordPress-based office website. The role emphasizes front-end work in HTML/CSS, WordPress updates, and accessibility adherence, collaborating with OIRPA staff.

Remote-capable with a strong focus on user-friendly, accessible design. The ideal candidate will have 4 years of related degree and experience with WordPress, Gutenberg, themes, and plugins, plus knowledge of WCAG 2.1

Qualifications

4 year degree in related field and proven experience with web design.
Strong experience with WordPress design and development, including creating, modifying, and maintaining WordPress websites.
Working knowledge of HTML and CSS and comfort editing live in a web development environment.
Familiarity with Gutenberg block editor, WordPress themes, and plugins is helpful.
Familiarity with digital accessibility guidelines (W3C & WCAG 2.1) and strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Complete development and implement remaining content and design updates for the WordPress site.
Troubleshoot issues and ensure the site is ready for launch.
Address outstanding website needs working with OIRPA staff and WordPress environment.
