Job summary

AmeriCorps Seniors is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to support regional programs in Alaska. This role focuses on recruiting and onboarding volunteers aged 55+ for Senior Companion and Elder Mentor positions.

You will partner with schools and senior centers, train site supervisors, and help maintain volunteer engagement through events and newsletters. The position is remote with regional travel, requiring collaboration with supervisors and program staff to identify needs and place volunteers

Qualifications

• This role requires strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft 365 Suite.
• Ability to communicate clearly with elders and partners.
• Excellent time management and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Recruit people 55+ around the region to join the Senior Companion or Elder Mentor volunteer program.
• Assist onboarding, interview applicants with supervisor support, and track through the volunteer database.
• Organize monthly volunteer retention events for active volunteers in the region.
• In collaboration with supervisor, develop partnerships with schools and senior centers to place volunteers.
• Provide onboarding training to new volunteers with supervisor support.
• Interview current volunteers to gather content for newsletters and social media.
