Job summary

State of Delaware is seeking a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to coordinate and provide rehabilitation services facilitating employment for individuals with disabilities. You will assess eligibility using statutory standards and document counseling and guidance throughout the rehabilitation process.

Role involves identifying services, addressing barriers, coordinating with agencies, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Rehabilitation Counseling, Social, Health or Behavioral Science, Education, or related field.
• Coursework, training, and/or work experience in case management using effective counseling or interviewing techniques.
• Coursework, training, and/or work experience in health or human services disciplines.
• Coursework, training, and/or work experience in narrative report writing.

Responsibilities

• Provides vocational rehabilitation services and counseling to clients and families.
• Conducts interviews and comprehensive assessments to identify aptitudes and needs.
• Evaluates medical, psychological, educational and vocational data to determine eligibility and services.
• Develops employment rehabilitation plans with goals aligned to client abilities and priorities.
• Identifies barriers to employment and develops strategies to overcome them.
• Delivers individualized services including job placement and training, and evaluates outcomes.
• Ensures compliance with laws, rules, regulations and best practices.
• Coordinates services with agencies, medical facilities, educators and community resources.
• Monitors progress, documents outcomes, and adjusts plans as needed.
• Maintains records and uses case management software to report on client information.
• Meets with clients and families via phone, email, and in-person.
• Interacts effectively across cultures and diverse groups.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher in Rehabilitation Counseling, Social, Health or Behavioral Science, Education, or related field
