Job summary

The Virtual Learning Academy (VLA) at Broome-Tioga BOCES is seeking a substitute teacher to support students in grades 4-12 through virtual platforms. You will deliver pre-planned lessons, lead discussions, take attendance, and monitor engagement in a remote setting.

Requirements include a degree (bachelor preferred, associate considered), access to a computer and reliable internet, and prior virtual or hybrid teaching experience. Per session availability is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; associate degree considered.
• Access to a personal computer and a reliable internet connection.
• Experience working with students in a virtual or hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons using virtual platforms (e.g., Google Meet, Zoom, Google Classroom).
• Facilitate class discussions and activities in a remote setting.
• Take attendance and report absences.
• Monitor student participation and engagement during live sessions.
• Maintain a positive and respectful virtual classroom environment.
• Redirect off-task behavior and encourage participation.
• Assist students with basic technology issues.
