Job summary

WAVA seeks highly qualified substitute teachers to join our virtual academy for the 2026-2027 school year. Teachers work in teams, delivering live instruction from home and supporting online school setup, curriculum, and student progress across ELA/History or Math/Science.

Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree with state certification, strong content knowledge, and excellent communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree
• Master’s degree preferred
• Appropriate state certification - multiple endorsement areas preferred
• 3+ years of teaching experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Instructional/Curricular: Knowledge of K12 curriculum and Online School for ELA/History or Math/Science; deliver live classes and intervention sessions.
• Communication: Manage home-school communications, conduct progress conferences, respond to parent inquiries, participate in staff meetings.
• Records Management: Develop and maintain documentation, monitor student progress and attendance, manage online courses, complete reports.
• Community: Organize orientation and activities for students and families, support participation in events and state assessments.
• Assessment/Evaluation: Participate in IEP/RtI/504/SST teams, prepare students for state assessments, align instruction to assessments.
