Job summary

U.S. Coast Guard in New Orleans seeks a Vessel Traffic Control Specialist (GS-2150-11) to promote safe maritime traffic and coordinate vessel movements in the Sector New Orleans Waterways Management Division.

You will monitor traffic, issue advisories, and resolve conflicts to prevent collisions and environmental damage. The role requires conducting vessel traffic management in a Vessel Traffic Center, with a telework-eligible schedule and a comprehensive DHS benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Provides continuous direct vessel traffic management services as a Vessel Traffic Control Specialist in a Vessel Traffic Center.
• Monitors progress of all vessels and informs, advises or directs vessel operators, masters or pilots in an assigned area.
• Anticipates and intervenes to resolve user conflicts or confrontations from competing waterway uses.
• Monitors, informs, advises and, when necessary, directs vessel traffic in the assigned sector.
