Job summary

DataAnnotation is seeking an experienced Validation Engineer to help train AI models by writing hard, verifiable mechanical engineering problems and providing worked solutions. You will verify answers, test problems against AI systems, and review AI-generated analyses and designs for real-world applicability.

The role emphasizes strong engineering judgment across mechanical design, structures, thermal and fluids, and manufacturing perspectives. Remote, contractor-friendly, with flexible hours.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience in design, product development, manufacturing, or related fields.
• Fluency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Onshape, Creo, NX, CATIA, or Inventor) and engineering analysis software.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanics of materials, dynamics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluids, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to write precise, unambiguous technical problems and worked solutions in fluent English.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field; residence in US-based locations.

Responsibilities

• Write challenging, closed-ended problems from your area of expertise requiring engineering reasoning.
• Derive the correct answer, verify it, and write a worked solution explaining the steps.
• Test problems against AI systems and refine until they challenge the model.
• Review AI-generated engineering analyses, designs, and documentation for correctness and real-world applicability.
• Review other contributors’ problems and solutions for clarity and rigor.
