Job summary

Code Metal is recruiting a UX Lead / Senior Product Designer to own the end-to-end design experience for mission critical platforms. You will translate dense geospatial and simulation data into intuitive interfaces for operators, analysts, and engineers.

You will work as a peer to the Product Manager, conduct user research with domain experts, run design sprints, own the design system, and supply clear specs to frontend teams for accurate implementation.

Qualifications

• Strong user research skills including interviews, contextual inquiry, usability testing and synthesis.
• Experience designing data-dense or geospatial interfaces (maps, dashboards, operational displays).
• Proficiency in Figma, prototyping, components, and design systems management.
• Ability to work in ambiguous, domain-heavy environments turning incomplete requirements into clear design hypotheses.
• Excellent communication and facilitation; able to run reviews with engineers, PMs and stakeholders.
• Experience partnering with a Product Manager as a peer and contributing to product thinking.
• Strong written communication for documenting design rationale and workflows.
• Comfort operating with high autonomy in a fast-moving environment with evolving requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end UX for a data-dense geospatial and simulation platform from concept to production-ready specs.
• Conduct user research with domain experts and surface mental models, workflows and pain points.
• Translate technical requirements into clear interaction patterns, IA and user workflows.
• Build and iterate prototypes with the Product Manager and iterate to testable artifacts.
• Own and maintain a design system with consistent UI standards for frontend engineers.
