Job summary

Zurich North America seeks an Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter – Financial Institutions to join the Middle Market P&C team. This hybrid role is based in Austin, Houston, or San Antonio, TX, focusing on broker and customer relationships, risk assessment, pricing, and end-to-end solutions for financial-institution clients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent with 3+ years in underwriting or market facing area, or 6+ years in claims or underwriting support.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 1+ year in underwriting or market facing area, or with 4+ years in claims or underwriting support.
• Knowledge of lines of business and regulatory guidelines; time constraints for quotes on new/renewal; proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, partners and customers across industries to support business objectives.
• Apply underwriting acumen in risk assessment, exposure evaluation and pricing to maintain a profitable book of new and renewal business.
• Collaborate across claims, finance, risk engineering, actuary and other units while gaining knowledge in a growing industry.
• Grow and develop relationships with preferred distribution partners in an assigned territory using technical underwriting and negotiation skills.
