Job summary

Joby Aviation seeks a seasoned remote pilot to operate R&D UAS platforms, serving as remote PIC during flight tests and working with engineers on pre/post test activities. The role involves hands-on aircraft work, SOP compliance, and safety culture reinforcement.

Requires Part 61 with Instrument rating, Part 107, Group 3 UAS experience, and 3+ years in the field. US Person eligibility applies per export controls, with English proficiency essential.

Qualifications

• Part 61 Private Pilot certificate with Instrument rating.
• Part 107 Remote Pilot certificate.
• Experience operating Group 3 UAS.
• Experience with manual (non-GPS) and/or augmented flight modes using a traditional RC controller interface.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and training.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Significant UAS experience (>300 hrs and >200 sorties).
• Read and speak English proficiently.

Responsibilities

• Act as the remote pilot in command for various R&D aircraft platforms.
• Conduct preflight planning and inspections of the system.
• Support test planning and take part in test rehearsals.
• Post flight reports, internal and external.
• Collaborate with other crewmembers in preparation, execution, and post test activities.
• Provide detailed feedback and recommendations for system improvements.
• Uphold standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Uphold a strong safety culture.
