Qualifications

• Fluency in Tzotzil and English with cultural sensitivity.
• Ability to assess regional and accent differences for LEP communication.
• Excellent listening, retention and note-taking for accurate interpretation.
• Remain neutral and professional, even on sensitive topics.
• High school diploma or equivalent and U.S. work authorization required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render correct concepts and meanings per interpretation conventions.
• Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation and etiquette.
• Maintain professional demeanor during sessions and be punctual.
• Stay calm on calls, including emergency 911 situations.
