Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking a skilled designer to create truss placement diagrams and engineered drawings for submittals and production. You will interact with customers and colleagues by phone and email to discuss designs, schedules, and revisions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

The role uses MiTek software and supports a collaborative, knowledge‑sharing environment. The ideal candidate will have MiTek experience, strong math skills, and the ability to read architectural and structural plans,

Qualifications

• Previous experience using MiTek software is a must.
• High level knowledge of the products being designed.
• Competency in basic mathematics, geometry and trigonometry.
• Must be able to read and understand architectural and structural plans.
• Strong communication skills for discussing designs and schedules.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Create truss placement diagrams and engineered drawings for submittals and production.
• Communicate with internal and external customers via phone and email regarding designs and schedules.
• Ensure blueprint drawings are accurate and produced in a timely manner.
• When approved, optimize designs and release them for production.
• Collaborate with team to share knowledge and assist with workloads on MiTek platform.
