Job summary

The Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS) in Massachusetts seeks a Trial Attorney/LGBTQ+ Liaison for the Transition Age Youth (TAY) office. You will provide direct representation in CAFL cases (C&P, CRA, PYA) and support training for FJA staff and private attorneys, focusing on LGBTQ+ youth.

This role is fully remote initially with possible hybrid work later, and offices in Framingham or elsewhere in MetroWest/Greater Boston. 3+ years of relevant experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Commitment to serving a culturally diverse, low-income population and must be eligible to practice law in Massachusetts.
• Access to reliable transportation to travel to courts, clients, and other locations throughout the state.
• Access to home internet sufficient to work remotely.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct representation of transition age youth in all CAFL cases at the trial level (C&P, CRA, PYA).
• Develop and deliver training/resources on LGBTQ+ youth representation.
• Advise FJA staff and CAFL private panel attorneys on related cases.
• Conduct legal research and writing.
• Keep up to date on practice issues affecting transition age youth.
• Work on projects to improve legal representation and outcomes for transition age youth.
• Maintain relationships with CAFL practitioners, Juvenile Courts, and community agencies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders on LGBTQ+ youth issues.
• Assist with annual work plans for TAY training programs and projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
