Job summary

Schnabel Engineering is seeking a Trenchless Practice Lead to guide trenchless design for new installations and rehabilitation within the Tunnel Business Unit. You will lead business development, project management, and staff oversight across multiple offices and project sites.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 15 years in tunnel engineering with a strong trenchless background, excellent communication, and the ability to mentor staff.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil/geotechnical/structural engineering degree required; master's preferred.
• Licensed Professional Engineer with reciprocity to other US states.
• Minimum 15 years tunnel engineering with strong trenchless background.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
• Experience with trenchless analyses: ground settlement, detour/shaft design, dewatering, ground improvement, monitoring.
• Familiarity with design software: AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MathCAD, STAAD, SAP, RISA, GeoStudio, Plaxis, FLAC, Revit.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and construction phase support for trenchless installations and rehab projects.
• Manage trenchless and tunnel projects: scope, schedule, budget, client relations.
• Collaborate with multi-discipline teams across locations.
• Perform/supervise geotechnical and trenchless design analyses.
• Develop designs for trenchless installations and rehabilitations; prepare calculations and reports.
• Prepare proposals with approach narratives and level of effort estimates.
• Mentor and train junior staff.
• Lead business development to pursue trenchless design projects nationwide.
